And here a day later it works, except only on battery power. It won't work with the charger only plugged in, and with it and the battery it beeps every second or so. Any suggestions?

Edit: plugged it in, charging normally with no beep. Thinkpads rock :D

Yup. Probably just had to fully dry.

Which model do you have? Did it go through the spill holes?

I have the T61. And it did, but I think it overwhlemed them. I had time to shut it down, but when I picked it up the water just poured out of it, not just from the holes. I'm pretty amazed, works flawlessly.

Makshim: Glad your thinkpad works after the water spill! I've heard that water is not so bad if the computer drys out completely.

I had a thinkpad that I spilled red wine into and it worked for a while, but eventually bit the dust about 4 months later.

Wow, I'm sure glad I own Thinkpads now. I used to own a Dell Inspiron 8100 and spilled a bit of orange juice on the keyboard and it fried my motherboard! I could actually hear a frying/fizzing sound!! Luckily, I had their 'complete care' warranty that covered accidents.
