    Hi all,

I have been a lurker for bit. Not long ago I joined the forums asking in regards which notebook would be a good way to go. The mental torure lasted a few months and today, while it was extremely difficult to do, I purchased a T60P (2623DDU). It was so hard to make the decision because I like widescreen, and was going to order a new NC8430 with the Core 2 Duo, but its the SIPS FlexView screen and the touted build quality that drew me in. So I wont have widescreen but I hope I will have one great notebook.

    Here are the specs:
    -------------------
    - Intel Core Duo T2500 / 2 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    - 2 MB - L2 cache
    - 1 GB (installed) / 3 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz - PC2-5300
    - 100 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 7200 rpm
    - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM - plug-in module
    - 15" TFT active matrix 1600 x 1200 ( UXGA ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colors)
    - ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 - 256 MB
    - Fax / modem / cellular modem - 56 Kbps
    - Verizon Wireless
    - Network adapter - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g
    - Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

I then promtly ordered a nice case from Lenovo, the one that hangs verticaly and can be worn as a backpack.

I had the unit overnighted to me, so hopefully by tomorrow I will be installing apps and feeling happy with my choice hehe.

    Cheers!

Congratulations! That's a great choice. Just curios, how much was the total cost including the case and the overnight shipping?

Where did you order it? I've been building various models on Lenovo's site for a couple weeks now and can't ever manage to build a 15" T60 with a decent graphics card. Right now they're showing that the T60P only comes in 14", both through the regular site and the EPP site.

Of course every time I build or rebuild a laptop, I get totally different prices and options, so maybe I just don't play well with their site.

I've got a nice model built on the EPP site, but it only has a 14" (but with Flexview and a FireGl V5200). I'd love a 15" if I can get it.

According to what I've read, I don't believe that a 14" Flexview exists.

Also, apparently the UXGA Flexview (15") is being phased out. Strangely, though, the thread discussing that seems to have been removed from thinkpads.com

You made a considerably wise decision going with the T60. Now to reduce your mental torture in the future get yourself a perscription for Luvox. Your family doctor will write you a script. This will kill your obsessive compulsive disorder.

you'll be very happy with it. I made the switch a few weeks ago from an Asus W2J to the exact same model you just ordered. I don't miss the wide screen one bit and the flexview is just worth everything. After having the glossy, I am sooooooo happy to go back to the matte screen. Granted, I loss some multimedia capabilities, but I have my desktop for that. I like the fact that this machine is all business with enough graphics power for some occasional games on the road.
