So how come you guys chose an Ideapad instead of a Thinkpad.

I'd imagine that it's due to the gaming potential. Y510p can go up to 755M SLI, whereas the T540p can go up to a 730M, and the K2000M in the W530 is roughly a 750M (but a lot more expensive).

Yoga was only available in the IdeaPad line when I bought mine.

No Thinkpad suited my needs at the time, and within my price range. W530 could have sufficed but it was 2x more expensive than i was willing to spend on a laptop. I was gonna buy a Dell (Inspiron 14Z) anyways, but i found this deal at the last minute.

Also the fact that Ideapads have the 60% charge threshold is a bonus, i guess. No annoying trackpoint either, i hate those.

I would have bought the more expensive model in a minute if it had the type of video card required for gaming.

I would love to see one of their high end W models come out with a great video card. I would buy it in a minute.

K2100M performs on par with the 755M if you care.

Oh yea? I didn't know that Jobine. Then I might get the one with the 2100. Thanks for the info my friend.

    EDIT,

Upon doing a bit of research, it is FAR off the 755 performance.

As another note, the 755m is one of the best cards I have ever played on. It plays smoother than my SLI 770's do on the Alienware. I know that sounds stupid, but it is just a really good little card. I love them.

    Well Jobine,

On another note, I just looked at how games compare and the 2100 comes out ahead of the 755m. I must have been looking at the normal benchmarking. So you are correct, that might be a better card for gaming than the 755.

Just depends on the games, sometimes it comes out ahead, others it doesn't, but it is always close either way.

    Thanks.

In the Ultrabay, yes. In the main bay, i get good temps on mine, and thus some decent overclocking headroom. I play Planetside 2 for hours and the laptop never gets that hot.

    Sweaty,

Under BF4, WOW, Chivalry Medieval Warfare, COD Ghosts, you name it, my card never gets about around 76C. Now the Ultrabay, is a different story, it runs 100C and shuts off lol. However, I have a replacement ultrabay that will be here tomorrow. Hope it is better.
