Been looking at the pics of T and R 61s, and just wanted to confirm that besides some of the internals which are obviously different, that the R61 is exactly the same as the T61 on the outside, except .1 Inch thicker and slightly heavier to accomodate the bigger cd drive right? (this is the 14.1" widescreen model)
The R61 can be had for a couple hundred cheaper than similarily configured T61 (for me at least, don't need the better gpu, wwan etc.) So it wouldn't be worth it for me to pay that premium simply for a .1 inch difference in thickness and .2 lbs.
Thanks

basically yes.....different strength materials in the laptop cage as well, not like most would notice anyway

You can't get a T7700 with an R61, can you?

No but like I said, sans the different options in terms of components (cpu, gpu, etc) the actual cases and whatnot are identical?

The 15" R doesn't have a roll cage for the LCD. See this thread:

I was specifically talking purely between the 14.1 T61 and 14.1 R61.
I know there are differences in the larger 15" models.
But thanks for the link, explains a lot.
So the R61 is just a slightly thicker t61?
