So, I got my grad present ordered. I took advantage of all the coupons/sales that lenovo was offering and bought a fairly loaded T61. Specs include T8300 processor, 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT screen, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M (128MB) graphics, 1GB of memory (gunna buy a 2G stick for a total of 3GB), 160GB HD at 7200 rpm, etc, and all this for roughly $950. So, what acessories do you think I'll need/ want? I know I want another battery, preferably a 9 cell. If you could direct me to the best place to purchase such items, id really appreciate it. Also what brand(s) of ram should I look for, and is it hard to replace it on the lenovo?
    Thanks a lot

For RAM look at major brands Crucil, Corsair, OCZ whatever you get make sure it has a lifetime warranty.

For batteries laptopbattery.com/.net just do a google search and a bunch of places will come up.

I bought my nine cell from Nerds.net. I think I paid $90. It was the best price I could find that I was sure was a genuine ThinkPad battery.

Spill water on it next to a Macbook user and ask him whether his overpriced aluminum hunk can withstand that.

If you want to have an external monitor/keyboard/mouse setup, then a mini-dock is nice. It also comes with another power adapter which is very handy. DVI output is good as well.

    - External hard-drive to back-up everything on. Don't suggest double-guessing usefulness of doing regular back-ups.
    - Grad? My guess is you are going to college, in which case you probably want a flash drive, pair of decent headphones (seeing how you already ordered a computer that is capable of gaming), and a bag for the laptop since, well, if you have one, you intend on carrying it.

Thats what I think is generally useful to have, assuming I got it right with regards to you being a student.

Anyways, congrats on an excellent purchase =].

I recently got a T61 also and I bought a Mogo mouse from buy dot com. Product can be found at http://www.newtonperipherals.com/products.html . Search youtube for mogo mouse and you can see a review of one and a person using it.

Basically it's a bluetooth mouse that fits in your express slot so you don't have to worry about carrying a mouse. It can stay in the slot and a one hour charge gives you hours of use.

It always gives people that use my laptop the wow factor :)

oh and I would get a notebook sleeve that is water proof.
