Hi, has anyone experience the same problem, after updating to the newest Software Installer from IBM/Lenovo. When it begins to connect to the web service it crashes after a few seconds. This problem only occured with T42 I have tested a few of them and got the same result on all of the. I have also tested this on a T30 and T41 models and got no problem what so ever using the Software Installer.

I have another Software Installer issue.
I started it, and saw it had about 20 items for dowload, some of them really big. However in the middle of the process, I had to recover to factory state again (my windows taskbar stopped displaying items).

So, I thought I would back up my c:\drivers folder and that will be it. However the Software Installer does not display the items I have already downloaded and they are not installed I take it (since I saw no installation dialogues).

So I went to the folder myself, clicked on every weird named folder (eg. 1GA239WW) and then setup.exe.

Did I do the right thing?

Mine doesn't crash, it just gives me an "Operation Timed Out" when attempting to check for updates.

    Thinkpad T42.

    Hmm...

Speaking of which, I just tried the installer again today, and it worked. Downloaded and installed everything. Weird.

    Hey ppl,

I am experiencing the same problem on my T42. However my software Installer version is 3.15.0510. So it seems IBM havn't done anything to solve this problem even in this version.

Maybe we just have to wait.........
