I have been using multiple thinkpads over the past 10 years and for the last 4-5 years, CSS Password manager has been one of the most useful software I have. When reinstalling the computer, I found out that I'm stuck with everyone else that Password manager refuses to open after a successful fingerprint authentication with message 'The requested operation requires fingerprints authentication but you do not have one configured'.
There are many thread on this error both in this forum and Lenovo support forum but no solution. Well, After fiddling with the system for more than a week, I managed to solve it. I hope to offer the solution to anyone who has this problem and those who will have it. Apparently this problem can go as early as 2007 till recently.
Pre-requisite:
1) Install current version of Fingerprint software and configure fingerprint authentication
2) Install current version of Client Security Solution and enable password manager
Solution:
Once you are stuck at the error message above when clicking 'Manage' on password manager link, follow this:
1) Click on Advance -> Manage security policy on top right corner of CSS main screen
2) Ensure that Setting The default policy is set to both password and fingerprint
3) On the next line 'Log on to Windows', Change the 'Disable Client Security Logon Interface' to first option 'Use default policy for this user action'.
Reboot and voila... Password manager works.
