So most Thinkpads, unfortunately, have terrible speakers.

I'm no audiophile, but I do like to listen to music while using my laptop in bed.

Any good options for improving the sound other than using headphones? My current thinking is to buy some Bluetooth speakers and output the sound that way.

Any speaker (well, except for those built into LCD monitors) should dramatically improve the sound quality. If you already have some speakers in your bedroom, you might consider buying an MP3 player (Sansa Clip+ is cheap and great) instead of using your ThinkPad to play music through a Bluetooth connection.

I just gotta say that my Dads 600X has the best speakers on any of the Thinkpads I've used. I love the body on that machine also! Just solid and bulletproof :)

The sound on my R60 is well above average. The only problem is the speakers are on the front in a slightly downward angle, which at times can get muffled. The single speaker on the X200 isn't too good.

if you are looking for true audiophile quality than the bluetooth is not something you should get, but for average use it should be fine.
