So I am buying the Y510p with the dual 755m SLI setup. I have heard the temperatures from the Ultrabay GPU get very hot (like 90°C) when playing modern games on the best graphic settings. I want this laptop to last long though, and I don't think it would last long if the GPU is at that temperature alot. I heard there are some things you can do, and I would like some information on how to do them.

    -Repasteing (Which paste works best?)
-Lowering Voltage to CPU and/or GPU (Looking for information on how to do this)
-Increasing Fan Speed (Again, looking for tutorial on this. Heard it's blocked in BIOS)
-Something about Heat Sinks (Would buying a better one work? Any recommendations?)
-Modifying laptop (Such as cutting a hole in the bottom, which I've seen. I also heard the Ultrabay fan does not allow good airflow and I was wondering what modifications I could make to that to let more air out.)
    -Buying a cooling pad

Is there any other suggestions you guys have? Can you give me input on how to lower the voltage and to increase fan speed? I would like to do a combination of these things to the GPU runs at a nice stable tempurature. I heard when it runs that hot it makes the max the CPU can run is 2.4hz.

Also, I like to leave my laptop on while I sleep alot. Would this be bad for a laptop that runs this hot?

In terms of cooling, elevation will make a world of difference, just make sure there is good air flow. Also, the laptop won't run hot unless you're really pushing it so just having it downloading or installing something over night won't mean it'll run hot, it all depends on the process at hand.

Removing the bottom base cover, lowers down temp by 5-10 degrees. When I run 3Dmarks tests, I do that.
As advise on the software for underclocking/ overclocking for GPU and CPU, you could look up to

Intel extreme utility and Nvidia Inspector software

I couldn't get Intel Extreme Utility to install, it says " attempted to install on an unsupported platform"
