    Hi Guys
I talked to my Lenovo sales rep. today , he is very helpful and goes out of the box to help you , just to let you know i decided to return my T60p after 18 days to get T61p and he gave me a month after issuing my RMA to return the system ( usually its 10 days) and he gave me FULL REFUND .
he told me today that T61p coming on June 10 , the shipping for system should be 3-4 weeks ( 3 weeks) .
Regarding Employee Purchase plan (Meyers ) he said Lenovo employees only can order 25 systems/year so anything over 25 system usually will be canceled .
I asked him about father's day he said as far as he knows (if nothing changes with T61p release date ) we can use Father's day sale for T61P (father's day sale last day is June 18 ), I asked him if 4th of July sales is better ,he told me Lenovo will match the price until 30 days of your invoice date , so if 4th of July sales is better than Father's day we get that difference back if we call and ask them
I asked him if I upgrade my memory or hard drive by myself does it wave any warranty and he said NO , but if we send the system back its better to be with original specs , nothing like that will wave the warranty .
i think its a great idea if you place your order put his rep # VT5 with it so if you have any question or problem you know someone helpful will help you and by having his extension there is no wait unless he is on the phone helping someone else , i called him around 6 times and 4 out of 5 i talked to him after 10 seconds and only once i had to leave a message for him and he got back to me in 20 min , when you put his rep # , you will receive an e-mail from him , his name is Mark , If you have any question plz Pm me , Just wanna let you know the reason I share this is i read a lot about sales reps that are not helpful and create problem for us , I told him about this issue and he said he is more than happy to help

Did he mention what screen sizes would be available on T61p release day? I'm hoping for either 14.1 or 15" standard 4:3. If it's widescreen only then many of us will continue waiting unfortunately. My guess is that a 14.1" XGA and SXGA+ 4:3 will be available for the T61p upon release, just because they recently pulled the T60/T60p 14.1" 4:3's, probably to insure sufficient supply for the T61p. Woot?

So, who thinks that the T61p will be available with an IPS TFT Flexview screen?

I'm also wondering if they'll come out with only the 14.1" as they did with the T61. Here is hoping that they release the 15.4" (or 15") at the same time.

    Work... that's a good one :D

I'll be honest. I want the 4:3 because then you can actually look at porn the way it was meant to be seen. Not like oh lets look at the head and torso, scroll down and look at the torso and legs, then turn the picture sideways and stand the laptop on its side...

Absolutely. It lets lenovo know who is a good and bad rep. I'm interested to see when the actual release date is. The 10th doesn't make too much sense being a sunday. I would expect either tomorrow (unlikely) or before Wednesday next week for them to release it. It seems the rep you talked to and the rep another person talked to point to the same time frame, which is between now and early next week.

I am sure T61p comes with much better video card and i guess the price difference with 15.4 T61 shouldn't be more than a 100 dollars

    Optimism. I love it! :)

    Here's my prophecy:

The T61p will be priced $400 more then a similar T61; it will come only in 15.4" widescreen, and it will ship in 54 days exactly.

I could deal with 54 days 'til shipping. I just want to know what exact specs we can expect, so I can decide to either order the thinkpad or another notebook. So please, Lenovo, release it on your website.

I think you should go with the T61p, especially if any of the following are important to you:
    • 4:3 screen
    • 1 vertical and 2 horizontal usb ports, instead of all 3 vertical
    • headphone/mic ports on the left side instead of the front
    • better graphics with 570m

im getting the 15.4" so the USB ports are irrevelant, i prefer widescreen and am debating whether I need the 570m or not

How do you know that the headphone/mic ports will be moved to the side instead of front for T61p? Is there a PDF manual I missed or something?

P.S.: Does anyone think that the T61p will be available on the Lenovo website with IPS Flexview screen? If not, I'll settle with the 14.1" 4:3.

I don't see the June 10th (tomorrow) date as realistic. There's no reason they'd release on a Sunday and they haven't in the past. I'd guess 12th if we're lucky but more likely the 14/15th.

Ah, thanks. That source looks pretty solid then. Ok, I missed the T60p 14.1" 4:3. I'm going to try and pass on the T60p 15" Flexview and wait for the following configuration:
    T61p
14.1" or 15.0" Flexview in 4:3 screen size
    Vista Ultimate OS
    T7700 2.4 GHz C2D
Lowest default memory configuration then upgrade to 4GB of 800MHz.
    100 GB 7200 HDD
    1GB Intel Turbo memory
Whatever battery is flush, if it's the 4 cell then so be it.
    3 cell Ultrabay Battery
1 Year Depot Warranty, or whatever is cheapest.
Shipping: 2 Business days and hope it's delivered before August w/ classic IBM logo both inside and out.

Yep, that should be able to run IE Explorer & MS Word like a champ! Then I won't be upgrading my portable again until it’s at least a quad core CPU w/ holographic storage or something > 7200rpms.

    Only I'm a cheapass, so I'd go for the T7500, 2 gigs of RAM, and a 14.1"

santa rosa only supports 667Mhz RAM and unless you are upgrading to 64-bit you'll only use about 3GB of the 4GB that you install

From what I've read, no one knows for sure if the 800MHz bus of Santa Rosa would support 800HMz memory or only run at 667MHz. Has anyone physically tested 800MHz memory on a T61 yet? Even if it won't run at full speed it will not be any slower than 667MHz memory. Correct? Also, I use 4GB of 1066MHz PC2-8500 memory in my E6600 desktop, so does it run at 1066MHz or only 800MHz?

Instead of getting a 2GB DIMM and a 1GB DIMM I thought it would be better to get two 2GB DIMMs for dual channel support. Even if Vista only recognizes 3.2GB of the 4GB (that's how it is with my desktop) at least it will be running in dual channel and would still be > 3GB. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Santa Rosa platform only supports sup to DD2-667. It's a common misconception that the two clocks are the same. If you want more proof, here's the page straight from intel:

    http://www.intel.com/products/centrino/compare.htm

Note the memory line where it says "up to 667 MHz"

They are backwards, y'know. Let's practice:

6/11/07 - in the US means June 11.

    6/11/07 - in Norway :)p) means November 6.

It'll be close, but I'm sure the US will get their laptops a few days before Norway.
