Hi all. Just had a couple of questions. I reformatted my T61 (with windows xp). I follwoed the clean install instructions on this site (which are fantastic). But now i have noticed that i have a yellow question mark next to BIOMETRIC COPROCESSOR which i have never seen before the reformat. Also i cant get the PCMCIA slot to work at all. It shows the device is working fine in the device manager but when i slide a card in it (Wireless n network card) the new hardware wizerd doesnt pop up allowing me to install the drivers for the card. Nothin at all happens. Ive tried other cards in the slot and nothing happens at all. Could i of turned the slot off by mistake or not installed the drivers properly? Other than that the system is running perfectly. Thanks in advance!

You could have. I sure don't know but xp is old technology anyway, why not come on up in the world?

Well it might be old technology, but that's what originally came with my t61 from lenovo. Xp is all i ever use. I don't need anything but xp for what i use my computer for. It is still fully upgradable, still have tons of software available for it, there isn't anything i cant do with xp, so i have never seen the need to change. Unless i want fancy graphics, or shiny icons, which i have no need for. But thanks for the help.

Try uninstalling the driver for the PCMCIA slot in Device Manager, and reinstalling. I've done that for several malfunctioning USB drives, and it fixed the issue.

Did you installed the Chipset driver just after installing XP?

yes i did install the chipset driver right after installing xp as the clean install instructions have indicated. Ive tried uninstalling the pcmcia driver and reinstalled it but the same result occurs. Kind of confused at this point.

Where would i find the latest driver for the pcmcia? When i try searching through google, all the links i find direct me to windows update. Its a Ricoh R/RL/5c476(II) as device manager indicates under PCMCIA adapters.

well i figured out the BIOMETRIC COPROCESSOR problem. Turns out if was the fingerprint reader driver giving me some problems. re installed the driver and the yellow question mark is now gone. Still have the problem with the pcmcia not working.

Which service pack version are you using on your machine?

On my T61 I've the exact Ricoh device and it's working fine although I disable it because I do not use it, I'm using XP + SP3 slipstreamed.

Finally figured out my pcmcia problem. Turns out, the slot was working the whole time. It is the fact that the slot is vert tight. It took alot of force to get the card to seat all the way in. Thanks to this post from this site http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=242433 i tried pushing it in really hard and it started working. Thanks to all who tried to help!!
