Hi, there. I have some customization questions and I hope someone can help me.

    1. upgrading from dvd/cdrw to dvdrw cost about $55. better to upgrade at customization or DIY later.

2.wireless card: thinkpad one, Intel without N(+$5),Intel with N(+40)
    choose which ?

    3. Bluetooth Pan(+25) better to upgrade at cus. or DIY later?

    4. There is a paypal 10% discount(not the $100 one), it seems to work even with my credit card(it deduct 10% before checkout). If I use this discount and paid by credit card, would lenovo have a problem with it ?

    Thank you for your time.

Upgrade to DVD-RW or else you'll have to pay $200 for an aftermarket one.

As for the wireless, I chose the ThinkPad once since it's an Atheros. I have had no problems whatsoever with it.

Install Bluetooth PAN also, it's a pain to do it aftermarket.

Use the CPP code here: http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrar...?affinity=cpp&ConfigContext=StdAffinityPortal

Search for it on the internet. Don't ask on NBR as it is against the rules.

Thank you , Arkit3kt. If I understand correctly, you seem implying Atheros chip is better than Intel chip, right ?

No, I am not implying that lol. I have had better experience with Atheros than Intel is all. Of course some people may disagree. If you really want to fill yourself with knowledge, search NBR: http://www.notebookreview.com/searc...F;GIMP:0000FF;FORID:11&hl=en&btnAction=SEARCH

To sum it up, most people seem to like atheros better.

Many other forums swear by the Atheros chipset. I have the Intel N....and 144MB/s is quite nice and consistent via access connections and a DIR-655 router.

But, I have a PCMCIA atheros that has and continues to be a great card.

Especially in the pentesting forums and Linux forums, users state that Atheros continues to be their number one choice (sensitivity, range, and flexibility).

    1) Upgrade to it or else pay more for it later.
    2) I personally have the Atheros model and think it works fine and great for me.
    3) Definitely upgrade BT and not externally, that's a pain.
    4) That I do not know, if it works good for you ;)
