So I have currently switched wholesale from using the Sony Z11's to the Lenovo X201T's. The main reason for doing so is the tablet factor, and although I haven't got fully to grips with it yet, I'm warming to Onenote integration with what I do in Office in general.

I have a few questions however about the X201T itself. Hopefully you can answer these.

    1) Dock. I understand that the X200 Ultrabase is compatible with the X201T, but what I'm after is more of a stationary dock - i.e. something I can press in and undock with one movement. It seems to me the Ultrabase is a bit like the Dell Mediabases - essentially travelling docks, which require that you consciously locate the notebook on the dock, and one which isn't sufficiently weighted to stay on the desk once you undock. Is the X200 Ultrabase the only option, or are there others which offer more of what I want?

    2) Design. I know many people appreciate the Thinkpad styling, but I've always considered them a little hideous - and the X201T is, by dint of the tablet, the hideousest(sic) of the X200 series - something I already consider pretty dire, style-wise. Any suggestions for skins, snap-on cases, or maybe something else which will distract me while not adding any appreciable weight (at 2Kgs with the hang-over battery, it's already the absolute maximum weight I'm prepared to tolerate in an 'everyday' machine)?

    3) There's a very small piece of torn vinyl sticking out from within the display hinge on one of the machines. Should I be concerned? There are a number of other build quality issues with all three I'd say - moulding consistency issues, etc which I'm not completely a stranger to in recent Lenovo hardware, but I'm wondering if it is functionally a problem.

    1) that is the only dock you are getting with the x20x series.

    2) Haven't seen any skins as such, but there are stickers out there that you can put on the top of the screen. Zaz had a wooden one applied to his X200 if i remember correctly.

    3) Can you post a pic?

Hmmm. So no tablet dock like the Toshiba M200? I liked that.

The mediabase is pretty solid as a dock. Press the button, and then pull the lever to unlock. Haven't had any issues using it as a dock.

I don't know about a skin. Seems like it may be hard to convert with one.
