Hi , i just got my X220 a few days ago and was pretty happy overall and this is my first laptop so i have a few questions :
1) Sometimes i start up , after typing my password , it takes like 30sec-1 min load . What i mean by that is the loading process before the welcome screen appears . There is just a 'please wait ' sign there . It does not happen often but just wondering is this normal ?
2) After i start up , sometimes it will just auto adjust the brightness for me . Say it is 10 now , sometimes it will adjust itself to 8 or something . What is happening ? ( when i say this , it is not when i am leaving it , i am actually actively using it )
3) The touchpad . This is my first time using a laptop so i am not sure if its just because i am not used to it . Whenever i try to scroll things using 2 fingers its really hard to control . Also , when i try to use 1 finger to just move around , sometimes its not so sensitive .
4)The battery meter . Since its my first laptop , i am just wondering how accurate it is . Sometimes it tells me 9 hours , sometimes 5 ( note , this is when i off it and on it straight away after a few minutes ) Is this normal ?
thank you

1)Mine has a fingerprint reader and I swipe (when there is a yellow light) and you don't have to even push the power buton, it does it all itself.
2) Check your battery settings, also you can sustomise display settings as per program. For example I have set the PDF reader to maximum brightness and other settings (standard) to 12 brightness.
3) in the search box type mouse and then go to ultranav. You can adjust sensitivity settings there, also Fn F8 will do this). Also System update might have an update for the gestures, otherwise there is a third party software available, others might assist, 'swipe comes to mind' but not sure.
4)I have the same problem, I have the extended battery as well as the slice, mine has adjusted and seems to get better over time, however I cannot confirm that 'running it in' is the fix but it also depends also on your power settings, of which the display is probably the biggest factor. -
3. Try TwoFingerScroll. Greatly improved my scrolling experience.

This means that if you are doing something lighter, the estimate will be higher, since the notebook is not consuming that much power. Likewise, if you do something heavier, the estimate will be lower, since the notebook is consuming more power.
You can see a big difference by turning the LCD brightness all the way up, waiting for a while (say 15 seconds) and checking the estimate. If you then turn the LCD brightness all the way down, wait a while and check again, your estimate will show you more time left. This is because the LCD is a real power hog, and by turning it down you gain battery life.
You can think of the estimate like this: "If I keep doing what I am doing right now on my notebook, my battery will last me XX:YY". -
For some reason i think my laptop is slow . When starting up the computer , after i type my password it says '' please wait '' for about 30 seconds before starting up . Also , when i am watching a video using windows media player , it lags sometimes . What is happening ? My computer is only about 2 week old with i7 and 8 gb ram , it shouldn't be this slow . I have also scanned for virus and it appears clean . Please help
