    Some kinda "burn-in" with a new 9-cell?

    Hi,

So I just got my new 9-cell T500 battery. Does it need some kind of "burn-in" sequence - like "don't run on battery the first day" :) ??

Also - I figure I will set Power Manager to start charging at 70% and stop at 99%. Does that sound alright? Obviously I want to maximize its lifetime :)

Stopping at 99% isn't exactly ideal. Try maybe 95%, if not a little less.

70% to 90% sounds good, maybe lower than 70% if you can stand to have less battery on a moment's notice.

And to burn in your battery, do a full charge then a full discharge. It'll calibrate the battery.

    Thanks - 60%-90% it is.

About charge-discharge: I will charge it to 100% and then ? Just let it run until it shuts down? Or is there some "full discharge" button in Power Manager?

In the advanced view in power manager there is an option to "calibrate" the battery. It'll do a run down and then recharge for you without having to unplug the machine.

I'm running Danish language - I have a button in Battery maintenance that is best translated as "Reset" - is it that you mean?

The battery has already gone through full discharge and recharge cycle before they left the factory, so you don't need to do the separate burn in sequence as you call it.

Depend on how long you use the laptop on battery, either 40 to 80 percent is okay for the minimum threshold for startup charging. Stopping at 95% is the best, 99% is same as 100%.
