I know this is stupid, but is there any reasoning behind the "blue enter" key on IBM's? Just something bizarre I thought about....

They've always used a blue enter key in ThinkPads in order to make it stand out. They claim that it helps with usablity. They also had red stripes on the mouse buttons too but not anymore. They need to bring em' back though. :D

Arkit3kt is right. It is the same reason why older ThinkPads used to have grey function keys.

They are planning to put them back:

Apart from the red mouse button stripes, many people seem to forget that the middle scroll button had a stripe as well.

Here's an example of the old T30:

We plan on putting the stripes back at the earliest date possible. Changes like this are complex due to tooling costs, lead times, and other manufacturing or supply chain constraints.

    The sooner the better.

No they haven't. My 600x has a solid black keyboard. The only color comes from the key lettering, the TrackPoint cover and the beautiful, beautiful red and blue stripes on the mouse and scroll buttons.

I think the blue enter key showed up on the T2x series.

I thought you had the option whether or not you want the IBM logo. I bought my T61 a couple months ago and I have the logo. :)

There is no option. It depends on factors such as place and type of purchase. But even then there is no guarantee you will get the IBM logo or the new ThinkPad logo. Lenovo is in the process of phasing out the IBM logo. Sooner than planned. So in the near future all ThinkPads will come with the new ThinkPad logo.

I personally like the new logo better. I understand the nostalgia attached to the IBM brand, but needless to say, it is no longer called an IBM ThinkPad. In any event, for those who absolutely cannot live without the IBM logo, you can buy the stickers on eBay.

    Oh ok.

I totally agree with you, the new ThinkPad logo is very nice looking. I like them both equally, so when I ordered my T61, I didn't care about which one to get.

If you miss the IBM logo, you can get it from eBay and replace it with the Lenovo one...just search this forum, I've posted a topic on this some time ago...

The new ThinkPad logo is quite nice. I thought it was white lettering on a black background from some pictures. It's actually a sort of muted silver lettering on black with a red dot over the i, which happens to match the color of the trackpoint. Now that Lenovo makes Thinkpad having IBM there is not necessary.
