Hi,
at my T61, the sound level, even if i set it to the max (50) still is not good enough. I mean, the sound level is rather medium than high, i hoped that i will find a way to raise it a bit to no avail.
Is this happening to other too ??

My T61's sound output is quite loud. I usually keep it between level 5 to 15. What is the output level of "wave" in Windows' volume control panel?
-
(5 to 15 ?? in 5 i do not hear anything...) -
i guess he meant the volume option from windows. There are some sliders for wave and cd,synthesizer and wave in signals. If the wave slider is almost off, you can max the volume with your keyboard , but you will not hear much.
how about the volume icon in the icon tray ? there should be a little icon that looks like a speaker. double click it, and look for the wave - slider. pull it to the max. Is your sound louder ? -
What the heck ?? -
HTH,

All settings there are the same that the hardware sound butons define. For example, when i change the slide in one of them, the on-screen sound volume increase too.
So, it is not that. Something else is the problem or the drivers i have (latest) are behave strangely... -
I wish the software sound level was that high for me. I found that in Vista, the sound goes from 0 to 50, but in Windows XP, it only goes to 25.
I think max volume is probably about the same, but it means that with headphones on, sometimes a volume of 1 is too high, because the increments are finer in Vista than in XP. I end up having to adjust the "Wave" volume slider in advanced audio properties. -
To be honest, you can't do much in Vista with the low volume. If you're using media player or other software, just use the software's equalizer.

My volume is maxed with the laptop buttons at 50. The pics below are of the Mixer and volume. But I am only able to get 16db out of the speakers in windows Vista.

correct me if I'm wrong but with my t61. Both the volume button, the wave level, are total overall level in vista are mapped and work together in unison.
I brought up the volume level dialog box you guys are talking about in vista. As I pressed the volume level up or down, I would see that the actual sliders were mapped, and moving is association with my physical button presses.
Forgot where to go in vista to bring up the sound level box. Im assuming the properties of the sound card within the system devices area.
Hope that kind of made sense.
