    I have my laptop connected to my stereo receiver via the headphone jack, as I use to it play CDs and mp3s in my apartment; I've just finally migrated over to my new t60p from an old R32, and I've noticed, surprisingly, that the output signal appears to be much weaker from the t60p; ultimately, with the laptop volume at 100%, I have to turn up my receiver about twice as much as I did with the R32; even when just listening with headphones, I find that the volume is relatively low when turned up 100% (especially when compared with my R32);

    I can't imagine that there's anything wrong with the hardware, as the sound quality is fine; do other t60p owners experience the same weak volume on their system?

    Ultimately, I plan on purchasing that Creative Audigy card anyway, but I guess it's just disappointing that my old R32 gets twice as loud as my new T60p.....(and yes, I listen to a lot of loud music, but I'm not going deaf.....yet ;)

    hehe, yep, you caught me Zeus; thought I'd try to cover more ground, with the ol' CTRL-C techniques;

    thanks for your response though, er, on the "other board"; have you thought about getting that Audigy card? I'm hoping the amplification will be better with that..........

    I have noticed my T60 is not is loud as I would have hoped... and when I do turn it up to 100%, the sound quality lowers.

    well, I feel rather silly, but as someone pointed out on forum.thinkpads.com, there are in fact two discrete volume levels-- the Thinkpad "system" volume (controlled by the volume buttons near the ThinkVantage button) and the "OS" volume (controlled by volume gauge in the system tray), both of which seem to operate independently of one another; I realized that my "system" volume was rather low, and that adjustment made a world of difference......

    Zeus: yes, I believe the Creative Audigy card is PCMCIA
