This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Sound quality on t42 / t42p??

    Just wondering how good the speakers are. I'm debating on this or the Acer 2025, which has a subwoofer and, I think, 4 speakers. Supposed to be some of the best laptop sound you can get. But the IBM t42p seems so "top of the line" in other areas, I was thinking they might have done the same with the speakers. I can't tell from the spec lists because I'm functionally illiterate when it comes to stereo technical knowledge.

    Notebook speakers are mostly bad to begin with, and the T-42's are particularly tinny sounding. If you listen to any classic radio broadcasts, they'll sound remarkably authentic through the T-42.
