    Hi All,

I've been using my T61P all day today and I noticed that the battery does not reach 100%. Right now it reads "95% available (plugged in, not charging)".
Do I have a faulty battery, or is that some kind of battery protection where it doesn't keep it fully charged at 100% intentionally?

I beleive it is a battery protection program that Lenovo has pre installed (ThinkVantage).

Can you tell us what your charge thresholds are?

Double click on the green battery icon in your taskbar. Click on the third tab and then Battery Maintenance.

I did a fresh install, and may have omitted that batterynmaintenance feature - there is no green icon for me in the tray.

Does your battery also hang at around 96%?

That's normal, so it will somewhat prolong battery charge life. After it dips below a certain area it will start charging.

Is it true that you are suppose to drain and charge the battery fully 4 times when you first get the laptop?

No, it is not true. I believe that once you receive your notebook, it is best to fully charge, then discharge, then fully charge again. This is known as a battery reset and will provide accuracy to your battery meter in order to prevent premature battery drain.
