Just to inform you, you copied the price infos about the X301 not correct. The correct price is HK$ 18156, which is 2.326,5886 US $. This is the normal high price for the X300, just to get the right feeling about prices for the new X301.
Best regards, Al. -
Hi,
Just to point out few interesting details:
x200 tablet seems to weight almost 2kg, kinda heavy if you ask me...
x301 gets CPU upgrade to 1.4ghz, but i'd say it's still LV, there's also GPU upgrade - x4500, and ram - ddr3
I wonder how reliable source of information this website is... -
-
sweet potatoes! information on the X301!
now if only you could find a (even rumored) release date, i should think i would elect you president. -
That T400 comes out to be $1,339 USD.
-
That's one hell of a price for the W700, however it's maybe cheaper than the similar 17'' from HP and Dell.
If the Quadro FX 2700 is true, well, that's a good sign. -
That X301 looks very nice. They are going with the 10W TDP Core 2 Duo, which is a 7W TDP reduction from the X300. The GM45 + X4500HD has a 12W TDP, down from the 13.5W TDP of the GM35 + X3100, while increasing shaders by 20%, increasing clock speed by 6%, and introducing hardware acceleration HD. In addition they are introducing DDR3 memory which should offer even further battery life savings!!!
I am very excited about the X301 and I will be purchasing one upon release. I suspect the release will be fairly late in the year as the SU9400 isn't scheduled until Q4. -
I've said this **** a couple of times, but no one's listening: check Bottom Line Telecommunications. They have the X200, T400, T500 and W500 available for order with some specs right there.
-
can someone explain the "6MB" for X200s and X200t, but "3MB" for the X200 to me? Is this L3 cache? Why the difference?
-
So on the OSU directlenovo site, when you search for "t400," it comes up with models. You cannot customize them though. Availability is 33 days too. So would that mean it would be shipped in 33 days or what?
-
So, after several weeks living in anxiousness, it seems that I've got what my waiting endeavor deserves. Thanks for the helpful information. -

Paul,
I think you are mistaken about the X300. It uses the SL7100 processor, which is not documented on the Intel website. This processor has a TDP of 12W, and 4MB cache.

Also, I suggest waiting to see if the X301 has an improved LCD. The one used in the x300 is a big let dowm. -
-
Sounds very nice. Good news for customers in the US, as this pricing will be pretty much standard retail. For those of you in local HK and China though, these are academic pricing so expect retail markups in the range of 30-50%! Why is Lenovo charging notoriously high prices outside of the US?
-
Not really with the new models - look at the SL series, base configs are cheaper here in Canada then they are in the States. And why is it I cant custom config a SL in the States? Your able to do it in Canada, that seems quite odd.
-
Sweet, some info on the X200t. I just hope it comes out soon!
-
I'm also interested in the screen quality of the X301, when it is released. Is the LED backlit screen in the X300 worse than the other (non-backlit) TP screens, which I know are generally dark? I thought these should be brighter and improve battery life? Or do they do that but are simply of some poor quality? -
-
somehow it sounds not real for the X301, it had 4MB cache for X300 and X301 would have less cache to 3MB ?

Hi Guys, I have the direct links to the student notebook program and I don't mind sharing them with you.
There are two universities that are selling lenovo notebooks:
http://www.hknotebook.com/ied2008/index.html
http://www.hknotebook.com/bu2008/index.html
Each has different configs and pricing. Have fun checking it out. I am in the process of getting x200 or x200s. Any help in answering my questions from this thread is appreciated.

Does HK have a release date for it? -
I am not sure of the actual release to public date for the w700. -

Still left wanting: ThinkPad quality, 13.3" LED-backlit screen, legitimate processor for light-average workstation tasks, Centrino 2, non-SSD option.
I don't need an absolute powerhouse for this mobile use but it's so hard to justify the cost of the X300 against its weak processor. Could we trade in some SSD speed gains for some processor ones (and save some money in the process)? Then drop an SSD in there later if and when the prices aren't completely insane...
X301 doesn't sound so far like it fits this bill either, as the processor isn't rumored to have changed much. I am beginning to think I'll have to go non-TP on my next notebook purchase
I would compromise on either point - give me a non-SSD or a higher powered processor, even if not both... but it seems so far there will be neither.
EDIT: It sounds now like I'm asking for a T300I guess one can dream.

I went into IED today, but unfortunately they did not have any display units at all! Quoted release date for the x200s/x200T is mid Oct.
-
I would prefer an SSD to speed up loading times and most importantly, boot time. The anti-shock is especially useful if you use it as you travel (on a plane whatsoever).
Don't for get a faster CPU would consume way more power whereas the SDD consume LESS than a traditional outdated harddrive.
The biggest drawback for the X300 is the lack of DVI/displayport, now the X301 has it! (it didn't state it in the HKBU specs, if you're buying from it, be careful) -
-
-
you went to Baptist University, and they had _NO_ Thinkpads on display?
edit: whoops, I didn't know there is an actual university called HKIED -
I think they might have display units at Baptist but I am not sure. But I will be going to HKUSpace in Kln bay when they start roadshow -
I am about to purchase HP DV7 and IdeaPad Y730 of HKBU ( http://www.hknotebook.com/bu2008/notebooks/HighPerformance/IdeaPad_Y730a.html) has caught my attention with its 1920x1200 screen (200-300nits?) and excellent cooling. What it lacks is eSATA which rival like HP DV7 provides and a lower graded ATI HD3650 GPU. But I am not very happy with DV7's screen (just 1680x1050) and potential heat problem with its 9600GT GPU. Any comments about quality/cooling of Lenovo VS HP and which of the two is better?
