    Specs for T430 & T430s; which is faster?

    Pla, Can you tell me which configuration is faster in both of these laptops:

    Processor i7-3520M 4M cache up to 3.60Ghz
    Memory: 8GB DDR-1600MHz 2DIMM
    180 Solid State Drive

    versus

    Processor i7-3520M 4M cach up to 3,.60HGhz (same as above)
    Memory: 8GB (same as above)
    320GB Hard Drive 7200rpm

    purpose for laptop: recordkeeping; surfing net; some movies, not many; some photos; manusscript writing w/word.

    This. For your purposes, you won't notice a difference between the i3 and i7 CPU (I would recommend going with the base Ivy Bridge processor, which at last check appears to be the base i5). You probably won't need 8GB of memory either, unless you have a ridiculous number of programs open. An SSD would provide a noticeable speed boost, though.

    If you are using the laptop at home, then you just get the T430. Also, an i7 is an overkill in your situation, an entry level i5 will be more than sufficient for you use.
