I just thought I'd share my story with you.

About 2 weeks ago I accidentally spilled half a glass of juice on my x201's keyboard. I did my best trying to suck the juice up with kitchen paper and then left the notebook to dry overnight. I knew the notebook itself would be ok, I wasn't sure about the keyboard though.
The next day the keyboard seemed ok, the keys didn't feel sticky at all. But after having used the notebook for an hour or so they keys started to stick to the keyboard. (Maybe the heat cased it?)
I figured I had 2 options; Either I remove every single key on the keyboard and do my best to remove the dried juice or I try to clean the whole thing. I tried the latter and it actually worked out pretty well! The keyboard had to dry for about a week or so but the stickyness is all gone. :)

If anyone else out there has the same experience just remove the keyboard and put it in a bucket full of hot water. Then just let it be there for 5 min and keep pressing all the keys. i also changed the water 2-3 times to get rid of the dirt/juice that comes out.

    Daniel

Glad to hear that everything worked out for you. Normally when someone says they spilled a liquid on their Thinkpad around here, it's usually a dead Thinkpad. (Same goes for other laptops... :p)

Or worst case scenario buy a new keyboard (possibly save yourself from a short circuit, and thank the stars you did not fry your motherboard).

Fitty; ThinkPads have a spill proof keyboard and have drainage holes, Lenovo has a fair amount of videos testing it. ;)

They are spill resistant, not proof, which is different. It is designed to resist liquid, but a small spill depending on the pattern can do a lot of damage. Hopefully, the OP got lucky.

Juice can be fairly viscous so it will tend to clog up the keyboard rather than flow through. Anyway, a good bath fixed the problem. It's what I would have recommended but it is best to do it immediately.

Goodness, I removed the left half of my X61's keys the other week to clean them/it. It was juice as well.

    Sorry sorry wrong term, spill-resistant.

namaiki how did you spill juice and not ever notice??

And my Vostro 1500's keyboard had half a can of Pepsi spilled on it...the stickiness....kinda went away but eventually 4 keys fell off so I just replaced the entire keyboard.

Eh.. I know that I spilt juice. Just that I couldn't be bothered trying to clean it until the A was nearly stuck down.

I would have just poured a glass of water to wash out the juice ;)

washing a laptop keyboard, this is the first time i have seen someone actually doing it.

This is one reason i try to not drink anything near my laptop.
