My T400 is a couple weeks old, and it was really a slug when I first got it...but thanks to a Vista Ultimate x64 format, it seems to be running quicker. But the problems haven't ended...

The computer makes strange noises. There is a constant squeaking sound coming from the HD area. It comes and goes, usually stays for about 10 minutes at least once a day. Also, when I take the comp off of AC power, there is a sound coming from the upper left of the keyboard area...it's hard to describe but sounds sort of like high voltage electricity passing through a wire. I'm assuming it's related to the battery.

Anyway just wondering if this stuff is something I should live with, or should I call up Lenovo and ask for a refund/replacement since it's only been about 13 days of ownership. Thanks in advance for your advice.

A sound coming from the HD area might be an indication of impending HD failure. Call Lenovo.
