I see that the nice adjustable stand isn't compatible with the Ultrabase (althogh this is by no means confirmed, I see conflicting info). What do you use to raise the height of the docked X200/1? Is the Essential Stand the only option?
-
I'm using a Cooler Master Ergostand.
Since I do a bit of blogging I did post a little video about it, which you can view at: Lenovo X201: Cooler Master Ergostand with the Lenovo X201 Tablet
Hope that gives you some ideas. There's obviously tons more stands out on the net but that one kind of matched the color of my X201 tablet and the X200 Ultrabase. -
Both are spectacularly ugly solutions.
...So perhaps a good fit for the Lenovo.
However I'd like elevation of the machine even when closed. -
<--- my friend uses this for his Macbook Pro. (mStand)
How about this Vogelbung... unfortunately none of the fashion houses have got into the business of making haute couture notebook stands.
<-- or this, but it does look too industrial.
-
I've given two away and the one left simply functions as a holder for an inactive Macbook at the office.
The mStand looks a bit wrong with the X201, but yes - I could use it, and I could also use the Griffin Elevator / iCurves I have. But those also don't look entirely right.
I suppose the look I am looking for with the Lenovos is less 'consumer industrial' and more 'Soviet industrial'
Currently the front-runner, as I said, is the Essential Stand. I am wondering if there are more fitting / better alternatives. -
Maybe the above Ergotron laptop stand fits a little better with the Sovietesque Thinkpads (i was thinking Thinkpad is more German like in terms of forms and functions).
Also, if you want to attach a LCD next to the stand, this ergotron product is a great thing, i think Zaz had one sometimes ago.
and regarding overheating macbook pro, tell me about it. I had the T7xxx CPU 17 inch MBP and T2xxx CPU MBP 15.4 inch, you could use them as space heaters during the winter in Australia. One thing good about MBP they hold their value surprisingly well, i got 1000 dollars for the 17 inch model and 650 dollars for the 15.4 inch one. A 15.4 inch T60 would be lucky if it could fetch $350 AUD. -
i like the card board solution, cheap and relatively easy to make, with little modification it can be a great stand.
-
brick is good if it doesn't scratch the laptop, and phonebooks are used quite widely in many offices, but it takes up too much desk space.
During my undergraduate years, i used textbooks to work as a notebook stand. -
Yeah - I am so not an undergraduate
I might get it - thanks. -
I also just found out that the Lenovo Essential Stand is an Ergotron product
-
that is not a real surprise, just like many laptop case is made by Targus, etc.
i think that stand only works with 20 inch LCD, which is a shame, given that 24 inch LCD is more ubiquitous nowadays than 20 inch widescreen LCD. But do ask ergotron about this product, they could have a updated product. -
Stand for X200 Ultrabase?
