I'm using the new ThinkPad 802.11n wireless adapter and it works well. However, whenever I take my T60 out of Sleep mode it won't reconnect to my router. Even if I was connected before putting it in standby it does this. I can't figure it out. When I go to scan for wireless access points, it shows none.

When I reboot, however, it works. Does anyone else have this problem and/or knows a solution? This is really bugging me.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I have an R60 with the Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG card and the same thing happens to me... I don't know why it keeps doing it either

I'm not sure if it happens when I put it in Hibernation but I'm going to be testing that too. Hmmm... you don't have the same adapter as I do so it's probly not a driver issue...

I think I'm also going to email Lenovo about it to get some answers. I'll let you know what their reply is.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Matt

    Modification:

I just emailed Lenovo so expect a response in 1-3 days. Also, I forgot to ask you, Bigtrip, which router are you using? I am using a Linksys WRT300N.

Here is a copy of the email I sent Lenovo:

I have the ThinkPad adapter in mine with a DLink router and the same thing happens to me. I have yet to find a solution, so I'm very interested in hearing Lenovo's response. Thanks.

Are you using any sort of firewall?

This link says ZoneAlarm can cause this kind of problems (on the last post).

Wow, really? Because that's the firewall I'm using. Which link are you referring to though? I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up man!

Although Lenovo has not responded, I think the problem might be driver related. I know their System Update is supposed to update automatically, but I haven't recieved any updates for a while. Interestingly, their website says a new driver for the adapter was released on January 9th 2007. Only 11 days ago, and I'm pretty sure I don't have that driver. So you can download it and install it manually here:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-66449

I'll let you know if this works for me. Also, to verify that the problem is/isn't ZoneAlarm, are any of you other guys using ZoneAlarm?

    Lol. Thanks.

I read the thread and it sounds as if the person who stated that is unsure himself. However, once I updated the driver my problems vanished. I have tested it over 5 times now and it connects every time. I'd suggest updating your driver if it doesn't work for those of you who are experiencing this.

I'll let you know if the problem occurs again and please let me know if it works for you.

Sorry I've been away for a few days.

Sounds like it was a driver issue. I'll update mine tonight and see if that works.

To answer your question if it is even relevant anymore... I have a Linksys WRT54G

That's not the same model as mine... hmm... are you using n to connect or g? Also, I'm not positive it was the driver because it happened to me once when I put it in hibernation. Only once out of about 10 times. It used to do it 9 out of 10 times. Maybe it helped but didn't quite solve it?

I used to have this problem on my Dad's and my own T40's. The problem we had was with "Access Connections".

What I did to solve it was to let windows handle the wireless connection itself. There is a setting for the properties of the wireless card to allow windows to handle the settings/setup of the wireless card.

I forget off hand what the exact text is for the option...but you can't miss it when you view properties for the wireless card. Just click on the icon in the system tray and choose properties, then in wireless options, look for the check box.

Then test and see if this works. Myself I never have any issues when opening my lid, coming out of standby, and finding a wireless conection. Of course there is one thing, it usually takes about 20 seconds before it finds it automatically...sometimes sooner though.

    Good luck!

I want to try the suggestion in the last post, but can't figure out how.

With T60, running Vista Business, I can't figure out how to change from using ThinkVantage Access Connection to manage wireless to using whatever comes with Windows.

I know how to do this in XP, so I must be overlooking something very simple in Vista.

Not being able to connect reliably, particularly after standby, has been my number 1 issue since I got this thing last November, but I haven't really tried what I can to fix it.

I'm still using CA Security Suite (which stinks, but is free with RoadRunner), and sometimes I find disabling the firewall helps, but not always. And I haven't tried to update the driver for the Intel Pro 3945ABG device yet.

The first thing I want to try is to let Windows manage wireless instead of ThinkVantage Access. Thanks.
