After the mess lenovo did with th x6x series, that were crippled with no apparent reason, I wanted to know what's the status on the new models.

Can anyone with one of these machine can check and update whetever he can use stereo mix like in recording internet radio?

If you tell me exactly what you want tested (what to record, with what application, using what settings) I will test it for you. I have an x200 tablet coming today and I will be running a whole suite of tests, so one more is definitely doable. I can run this from either Vista, XP, or Ubuntu Studio.

I have never experienced any problems listening to and recording Internet radio on my X61 (I use Replay A/V).

I wouldn't describe it as crippled!

I have a T400 that I can test with, although I am not exactly sure what you are asking.

Stereo Mix is part of the AC' 97 audio specifications. one of the great benefits of Stereo Mix is the record "what U hear". if you want to record a song played on an internet radio for example, you can fire up something like http://www.applian.com/sound-recorder/ and record it. It also enables you to record in stereo from line in's. As I've understand there are no line-in's in the new models, but I wanted to know for sure about the record what U hear capability.

What Kubala is saying makes sense. The whole stereo mix thing seems like nonsense to me. I don't understand why there should be hardware involved in something like recording the audio output. It should be fairly trivial to create a program that intercepts audio output at the OS level.

well, there is hardware involved, and it's disabled, ZeroSource has some great links to learn about it.

But why? That simply doesn't make any sense. On Linux, it is possible to record soundcard output through a purely software-based method (for example, by using a program called arecord).
