I ordered my T410 on the 2/2/2010.
Thinkpad T410 - Intel Core i7-620M (2.66GHz 3MBL3 1066MHz) - Windows 7 Professional 64 - 14.1" WXGA+ LED - NVIDIA NVS 3100m 256MB DDR3 - 4 GB DDR3 - 320GB 7200rpm - Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 - 9 cell battery
It took 2 weeks for the order schedule to shift from submitted to checking credit and then finally in process. I know that these schedules are horribly ambiguous and inaccurate at times but my follow ups were to no avail as I made calls to post sales just prior to chinese new year. Production and post sales went back to work on the 23/2/2010 and it took a day for them to get an updated schedule. Still in process 3 weeks after the order was submitted.
As it stands they are having supply chain issues with the cpu and are unable to give me an eta. Post sales is meant to update me at noon so I will post back a reply then. My patience is wearing thin as I interchange between an old ASUS AJ8-A with the notorious broken hinge and my work laptop (Dell D630) that won't even port a steady and unflickering image to my 22 inch monitor via vga. Sorry people, this isn't meant to be a vent, just informing you all of the supply chain issues.

I phoned them last week when they moved my delivery date out 3 weeks and they then added me to the 'Priority list'.
It shipped today.
I eagerly await its delivery
-
My tip: cancel it - it will ship then the very next day
Happened to me twice. -
Happened to me too, only mine shipped two hours after cancelling.
-
post sales just called and told me that there is a 'world wide shortage of cpus'. she seemed incredibly inept at clarifying whether that meant just core i7-620's. strangely enough when i suggested that she rectify my order or cancel and re-order with core i5 she said that the shortage applied to those processors as well. i ordered mine with a bundled monitor promo so i don't know if i can cancel at this point in time. i'll see if i can get them to 'priority list' it though.
she said it won't ship until mid-march, which is outrageous. thanks for the feedback people -
I ordered mine, exact same config on 1/25 and it shipped on 2/11. Then it took UPS 7 days to deliver it, even though I paid for 2 day. Oh well, now that I have it, I love it! Replaced the hdd with an intel x25-m 160.
-
A worldwide shortage of cpus, that's news to me. Just hope Intel isn't pulling that trick like the memory makers have time and time again (an excuse to raise prices).
You should call UPS and/or Lenovo and see about getting your shipping fee reimbursed. -
Mid March? Ouch. The only thing I saw when I ordered my T510 was picking an SSD drive would delay it around 4 weeks, but you've picked a traditional HDD so I assume that's not the problem here.
I ordered my T510 the same day as you, and it finally shipped this morning. I've got the chosen options in my signature below if you're curious. -
Do not forget, that it is Chinese New Years, that's the actual reason for shipping delays.
-
It would be more proper to say 'manufacturing' delays, once it gets shipped it's out of Lenovo's hands. I got my U150 in 3 days, yet pshifrin got his in 7 (with 2 day shipping). I'm also pretty ticked at UPS as of late, my U150 was supposed to be delivered back to Lenovo today, but it's been rescheduled for Friday, which means it will be late next week before I get my refund credited back.
-
Yeah it is immensely painful to wait on a machine that I really do need. You ordered yours with a core i5 processor. By deduction, lenovo obviously have huge supply chain issues with the core i7 line of processors seeing that you received yours pretty swiftly. I will call again this arvo.

Here is a copy of the email i got from post sales today.
Thanks for choosing Lenovo.
Due to a serious supply shortage for the CPU, we regret to inform you that your order will be delayed. As there is no estimated arrival date of the CPU supply, we cannot tell a firmed ship date at the moment. As far as we can estimated, the supply might come early next month, but not yet confirmed.
We'll advise later if there is further delay on the supply.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks. -
Ouch! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you...
-
Hi there, you have to be a little patient, it's worth waiting! I hope you get yours as soon as possible...
Regards,

I ordered a T410 on 1/31 and it just came about an hour ago. So far, it's worth the wait!
So overall, it took from 1/31 to 2/23 to ship it to Canada. -
Out of curiosity, how much of that time was shipping? And what part of Canada are you in? I'm in greater-Vancouver, and my T510 shipped yesterday morning. I'm just trying to get a rough idea when it might get delivered. I'm thinking probably Monday, but of course Customs can be a hold-up at times.

i ordered my t410s on 02/10
got an estimated ship date of 04/19
decided the ssd option wasn't worth the wait
called in to change to regular hard drive on 02/12
been checking order status - nothing has changed, still shows ssd, still shows 04/19 - today is 02/23
called in - "oh, we can't make that change, you have to cancel and reorder with the options you want"
well why didn't you tell me that TWO WEEKS AGO
so cancelled, reodered with base options
estimated ship date: 04/19
sigh
i love lenovo's product, but their ordering/billing/customer service blowwwwwwwwws
now, i'll only order a thinkpad every few years
but if i was a corporate customer that has to deal with them on a regular basis...
well i just hope they treat their corporate customers better -
I feel you buddy. But the order schedules on the lenovo site are nothing to go by. Try calling them again and asking them to prioritize your order.
I got some good news and bad news. The post-sales girl prioritized my order and it is shipping this Friday from China. So I should be expecting it sometime next week. I'm one of the lucky ones to have had the order expedited. There were only a handful of core i7-620m's floating around and apparently I got one. Bad news is I tried cancelling my order this morning in light f her email advising that the earliest eta was mid-march. So i wanted to order a w510 instead with a 20% discount which would have made it a better buy (meaning i'd have to send the bundled monitor which i have opened and used back). Had they not expedited my order I would have been able to cancel and waive the restocking fee.
I'm hoping you guys can convince me that for my purposes the t410 is a better buy. I'm an honours student and lecturer at the University of Sydney. I take my laptop into work everyday. W510 looked future proof with usb 3.0, 4 ram slots and the FX880m. But a fine balance between mobility and power is crucial to my work. Btw, should I consider buying an after market ssd. Bootup times from hibernate have become surprisingly important to me and I have killed many platter hd's from dropping my laptops onto concrete from desk height whilst powered on. Cheers -
It sounds to me like a T410 is probably fine for you. If you want USB 3, you can pick up an ExpressCard adapter when they're available. As for the different graphics and double the memory slots--well, hard to say how important those are to you since you haven't told us what type of work you'll be doing on the laptop. You can put 8GB of ram in a T410 which should be sufficient for all but the highest-end power users for the foreseeable future. Hard to say what your gfx needs are at this point.
-
I forgot to mention that yes an SSD sounds advantageous for you if you can live with the reduced capacity and don't mind the cost.
-
Shipped on 2/19 got it on 2/23. I am in Montreal so you might get it earlier/later than me.
-
Thanks for the info. I'll cross my fingers.
-
I'm no power user by any means, so gfx wise I just need it to run an external monitor and dual monitors in future. At some point I will be running STATA or other statistical analysis programs using monte carlo methods. This is probably all processor dependent which is why I opted for the core i7. 4gb will do me fine until 1 dimm 4gb sticks become cheaper.
My main concern with an expresscard adapter is that it is limited to 2.5 Gbit/s (PCI Express mode) until expresscard 2.0 is out (raw bandwidth of 5 Gbit/s). USB 3.0 has a raw throughput of 4 Gbit/s. Clearly would be bottlenecked at a throughput of 2.5Gbit/s.
Many thanks for your help mutnat
Still waiting on my t410
