What happens if your laptop is stolen? Is their anyway to cover this? How will Lenovo help?
-
Was it stolen before it got delivered to you? Or after you had it in your possession? If it was stolen after, there's nothing that Lenovo will do for you; you're out of luck. The only thing that will help is if you had insurance on it through your house insurance.

It was never stolen (thanks for the concern) i was just wondering, so you could insure it through your home insurance.

MK has the best advice. If it is stolen, file a claim on your renter's or homeowner's insurance. You'll probably have to pay a deductible, but at least it won't be a total loss.

Make sure your policy covers items at replacement value rather than depreciated value. Otherwise, should your laptop get pinched, you may not get a whole lot for it, especially as it ages. Also, double-check your deductible. If you have a $100-250 deductible on your homeowner's, it's worth paying to replace an expensive laptop. If you have a $500-1,000 deductible, your insurance may have cheaper premiums, but it may not be worth paying the deductible to replace a stolen laptop. -
Thanks for the advice! That sounds better than what I thought.

To answer about ways to cover your machine, there are insurance policies out there to just cover stolen laptops.
But there is more. My T61p has Lojack installed. I think when it's on the net it regulary checks in with lojack. If I report it stolen, they look for that "hello" and go into high gear if my system ever appears on the net. Replacing the hardware drive will not prevent my laptop from announcing it self.
