    hi,

Considering purchasing a Thinkpad and would like to look at one in the flesh if I am gonna spend that much money on one. Does anyone know if major chains like Bestbuy, CompUSA, etc. that sells Thinkpads, or know of a site that would provide store fronts that sell Thinkpads? thanks

    Hi Smitty,
as far as I know none of the big outlets have them. The IBM is really the best built notebook there is, you should maybe go to the stores and see the size and features your looking for in a notebook and then find a thinkpad model that fills the bill. When your ready to order, www.newegg.com has best deals on thinkpads that I've found.

    Smitty,

I would try Bill at www.thinkpads.com. He can give you a great deal and does not charge sales tax like IBM. You might want to check out the forum there as well.

IBM also has a 30 day no questions asked return policy
So if you order directly from them you have a 40 test drive.

Don't forget to check with you credit card company's website because most of them have a link to IBM and you can save about 15% going through that link.
