I recently purchased the Y500 750m SLI version and I noticed that the computer stutters every 10 min. It's a strange stuttering and only lasts a couple of seconds but it happens frequently enough where it is annoying me. This also happens when I am watching videos as well. Also, I notice that the sound stutters when this happens also. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

What is your storage configuration? mSATA and SATA drives?

The OS is installed on a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD and all my games and movies and music are on the 1TB mechanical drive.

if you're getting audio pops alongside the mouse stutters, it could be faulty driver installations or hardware. I recommend DPC latency checker ( DPC Latency Checker) or LatencyMon ( Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks) to check for hardware latencies. DPC latency checker is definitely the simpler program, and the way that you know you have issues is if you see the bar jump up to the red sections. LatencyMon will provide you similar data but it will be harder to understand what's going on. Some laptops have inherently high latencies, like Dell's and some Samsung's, but as far as I can tell the Y500 is NOT one of them.

My Y500 for instance has random spikes as well but they are no longer than 350 microseconds, which is well under the amount of time needed to cause a pop in audio/mouse stutter.

BTW IDK if dpc latency checker works with Windows 8 yet, but I'm pretty sure latencymon does.

Thanks for the tip. I am trying out an experiment but I think the stuttering only happens when I have my secondary monitor hooked up to the system. Could the second monitor be causing this issue? I have it hooked up via hdmi.
