This may sound weird, but...
I have a z60t and it periodically makes a strange "plink" (?) sound. I have no idea where it is coming from and have never heard it from other laptops before. It kind of sounds like the computer is hiccupping every few minutes and I don't know if it's a normal sound or if something is wrong with the machine - everything seems to be running fine. It's just that the sound is kind of irritating and I have no idea what it is.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

perhaps it's the hard drive?

Is it a normal sound for a hard drive to make though? I have had several laptops before but this is the first time I've heard this kind of sound...

Try running HD Tune to see if everything is in order.

HD Tune is a hard drive utility. It will check the health of your hard drive and is also free.

I ran HD Tune and everything checked out OK. But the computer is still making noises... I'm wondering if I'm just extra-sensitive noise or if I should send it in to be checked out...

No harm in calling tech support and asking them. If the sounds happens regularly enough, you might even be able to put the phone next to the machine and let them hear it. I've done that with a DT HDD going bad.
