    Problem: Streaming video from a single website won't load on my T60 or X60; of the 5 computers I use daily, only my two TPads are affected (these are also the only ones w/ ESET NOD 32). Having tried to troubleshoot this at several levels (software, add-ons, etc. in a bunch of other forums) - I'm wondering whether there is something about ThinkPad proprietary software that could be the cause?

    The site in question is Flash based: bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/. Flashplayer 10 is installed properly on both machines (and has been uninstalled / reinstalled in attempt to solve the problem).

    OS: Windows XP, SP2. Browser: Firefox 3, latest version (video from this site won't load on IE6 or Safari 3 either on these machines!);

    Internet Security Suite: Eset NOD32 (turning off firewall temporarily makes no difference);

    Relevant add-ons: NoScript. (Disabling NoScript temporarily makes no difference).

    Troubleshooting thus far: working with NoScript board on Mozilla, and the bloggingheads people at their site - no results. Did a Standard Diagnostic on Firefox: no luck. May try ESET support.

    Firefox error console turns up errors like these:

    Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'cursor'. Declaration dropped.
    Source File: http://static.bloggingheads.tv/stylesheets/bhtv_css.css
    Line: 898

    Warning: Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped.

    So...Help!

    And thanks.

    Did you try other browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari, etc.)?? This will help rule out that it's not FireFox.

    Also, it would help to know exactly what site you are trying to stream from, and your country of origin and/or ISP (many streaming site block by IP).

    In your haste to help - which I appreciate, by the way - you may have missed vital nuggets hidden in my way "over-informative" post:

    "The site in question is...bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/." It's a site where eggheads discuss the sublime / ridiculous affairs of the world on split screen.

    "Browser: Firefox 3, latest version (video from this site won't load on IE6 or Safari 3 either, on these two machines!)"

    Now - I haven't tried Chrome - I may give that a go!

    Thanks! Your thoughts are very welcome.

    Country of origin: US, eastern seabord. ISP: Verizon DSL. (other machines using the same router do fine with bloggingheads).

    well, from the description of the problem there is no way this could be a hardware related issue. my first shot would be to disable the virus scanner. if it doesn't help, uninstall the virus scanner completely (i unfortunatley have some experiences with build-in firewalls in virus scanners - it isn
    t always sufficient to turn them off, sometimes there is no other way than uninstalling them completely).

    teh reason is that the (sub-)domain "static" seems to be blocked by the scanner (two indications for that: missing symbols which probably shouldn't be missing if the site works correctly, and of course the last error message).

    also make sure to delete your browser cache.

    The site worked just fine on my TP - the same stream as in your link. Also, my Firefox 3.0.7 error console showed exactly the same error messages you got (except the last one, from NoScript). so the FF errors are not related to your problem. I have all the TP utilities installed, so that also is not causing it. Something else on your TP's must be causing a problem with Flash.

    Well, one possible solution came up: bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs uses the rtmp streaming video protocol via port 1935; I may need to whitelist port 1935. I...don't know how! I'm assuming this is an ESET issue. Any ESET users out there know? (I am also working with the ESET forum).
