Anybody has experience or advice regarding replacing a screen on a T60 ? I want to do quite a stunt - replace a screen from XGA to 1400x1050 on a 14.1" T60 machine, because XGA is not too good - low resolution, and bad quality - viewing angles etc. I bought XGA because i wanted the GMA950 which would be cool and give me more battery life as opposed to hot and more power hungry ATI X1400, and there was either SXGA+ATI or XGA+GMA950, and that sucked.

Am I voiding the warranty for the whole machine then, by replacing the LCD?

Also, which place it best to look for screen replacement service, and do only IBM compatible screens apply?

I thought it should be just a connector, and the LCD just the right size...

Yes you will void your warranty. My advice is to sell your notebook and buy one with a SXGA screen. The screen alone is probably at least $400.

You can find screens at various places, I've had good experience with www.ScreenTekInc.com

But as Zaz says, proceed with great caution, it's probably not worth it unless your screen is broken. eBay the current laptop and re-buying may be your best bet.
