My old T40 blue-screened last week; luckily, I had already ordered a T400...but now I'm trying to put my old hard drive into an external enclosure to grab whatever files I need, and I can't get the screw to turn. The rest of the screws are easy Phillips-head screws, but this one is bigger and appears different.

Anyone know what I'm dealing with? (IBM website graphic seems to show a Phillips-head being used, but that hasn't worked for me...hence the question)

might be a torx screw, but I doubt it - does it have a 4-way slot like phillips, or a star shaped opening like torx? If torx, you need to get a new driver. They are cheap and readily available at hardware or electronics stores.

I'm sure you don't need the 4th screw out of 4 screws to get your files off your HD. Heck sometimes i get lazy and don't even bother screwing it on lol. 3 screws should be good enough to hold everything intact in your external enclosure anyways. Don't spend too much time/money on looking for one single screw =)
