    Hi all --

I have a problem with stuttering HD videos on my T61p and my T500.

First a little background. I live out of the US right now, so to watch many of my favorite shows, I record them via Replay Media catcher from Hulu or CBS. If I try to watch the HD versions of the shows (720p, I think) via streaming the HD versions look just fine on both computers. I don't watch them streaming because I have to use a VPN to pretend that I am in the US and the resulting connection is too slow.

When I record a HD version as an FLV file and play it back with VLC there is an audible clicking and the frames seem to run very jerkily at 1.5 speed. With the little FLV player that comes with Replay Media Catcher, the clicking is gone and the speed looks correct, but the frames still move rather jerkily.

The T61p is running on Vista 32 with 2GB of ram and a 7200 rpm hard drive while the T500 is running Vista 63 with 3GB of ram and a 5400 rpm hard drive.

Any ideas on what I might be able to do to enjoy recorded HD video on my computers will be greatly appreciated. Is there a different player that might handle the videos better?

    Thanks,
    rb

Do you have access to another computer to rule out the actual file being the culprit?

The problem occurs on both of my computers with any of the "HD" files that I have saved to my disc. But you do bring up an interesting point. Perhaps Replay Media Catcher is not properly or fully recording the files in the first place. Perhaps I should download a file that is truly high definition to see what happens.

    Thanks for the thought.

    Mr. John --

Thanks for pointing me down the bad file road. I recorded an HD video off of Vimeo and it played perfectly. I also tried to record a Hulu file while connected to my VPN using an ethernet connection and that made no difference - the picture and sound was still jittery. I will follow up with the Replay Media Catcher folks to see what they might recommend.

    Thanks again.
