    Substantial U110 price drop

    Just saw they dropped the price of the U110.. $1299 but with a coupon code it can be had for $1169...not too shabby...is this machine outdated?

    It does seem a little outdated. It has a low voltage Santa Rosa C2D (65nm, 667MHz FSB), x3100 GPU, uses DDR2 and has only a 4200rpm 1.8" HDD.

    The machine is definitely light, but I think a ThinkPad x300 is a far better choice; similar CPU, GPU, RAM, but comes standard with an SSD, DVD±RW, and 1440x900 LED display. You can pick this up from the outlet or with coupon codes for <$1300.

    You can also get a comparably specced x61s for about $750 from the outlet.

    Thanks for the replies...you can't find the straight X300 on the Lenovo site anymore....just the X301...why did they do that?

    The x300 is discontinued (hence the reduced price). Check the Lenovo outlet. They have several x300 models there.
