    Hi,

Yesterday I was using my laptop without the mains adapter. I put the machine into hibernate, then returned to it an hour later. I noticed when Windows 7 finished loading that the battery said 0%.

Now, even after a full charge the battery meter indicates only about 20 minutes.

I'm wondering if the system didn't properly hibernate and the battery was drained to zero. Has this pernamently damaged the battery? Or is there a way to cycle the battery? Or is windows 7 mis-reporting the remaining battery time?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

battery error? have you checked the forums.lenovo.com under T61 section battery recall to see whether your battery is under recall?

Thanks, I looked at that thread and found that my battery isn't covered under the recall.

Today the issue reoccured again after a hibernation. This time when I switched the computer on, I got a beep and then a few seconds later a series of a beep then a low frequency beep (almost like a siren.)

Perhaps my laptop isn't hibernating correctly? This is strange as I've been using hibernate on a daily basis for the last 2 years and for the last 3 or 4 months with Windows 7.

Any suggestions for other things I can troubleshoot? Or possible hardware faults that I should raise with Lenovo?

    Thanks

Battery warranty is only a year. What's the cycle count and remaining capacity?

i am asking whether the person has warranty on the laptop, there could be something wrong with the laptop motherboard itself.

Also, you can get three year battery warranty with Lenovo through corporate channel.

It could be the HDD, might have damaged heads and is not writing properly, so perhaps when it is supposed to be hibernating, the HDD is still trying to write or spinning. Perhaps take out the small CMOS battery, leave it out for an hour, then put it back in and see what your battery meter indicates. Maybe you could try in the Power Manager to reset the battery gauge, takes a few hours but could solve the possibly inaccurate readings.
