Has anyone done/attempted this yet? I'm looking at swapping out the P7350 for a P9700.

I have not, but it's probably doable as most CPUs are socketed these day. From a performance perspective, a SSD is probably money better spent.

SSD prices are continually falling, whereas I can get a decent deal on a retail/OEM P9700. And I don't see the prices on these chips dropping anytime soon?

If you're just going just doing Office, Internet and media, a P9700 will offer the same performance as a P7350. The better responsiveness/throughput of a SDD will offer a much larger performance boost. It's not worth the effort unless you've got a specific need to do CPU intensive tasks all the time, and even then it's marginal. That's my opinion of course.

Hmm, ok then. Maybe I'll look into a SSD :D However the capacity I would need (128GB) isn't quite feasible ($400).
