    Hello,

I got a Lenovo T60 from work. An older one with a Core Duo but a nice mashine none the less. I dont want to mess with the system, I dont even have admin rights for it. I was thinking of buying a SATA notebook harddisk and swapping it out. This will not mess up the work harddisk right? I have the password for the bios. I saw that the T60 has a harddisk bay for the Mediabay (or Ultrabay or what ever Lenovo calls the thing where the CD drive normaly goes). Can I boot from a harddisk in the Ultrabay? Maybe if i pull out the normal harddisk? Is the Ultrabay harddisk SATA or IDE (PATA)?

thanks for any help in advance!

I'm guessing that you have a SATA drive in your T60 since it has a Core Duo processor. As long as you don't wipe the data on the current hard drive then you can just swap it out for a new one. You should also be able to buy the UltraBay adapter and install another hard drive that way. You shouldn't have a problem booting from the hard disk in the UltraBay. You can hit F12 at boot and select what you want to boot from.
