Hi all,
Using Vista 32-Bit Service Pack 1 and T400 2764-CTO with switchable graphics (see additional specs below). I was having some of the display problems that are reportedly addressed by this update: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70417 . Also, my T400 display is not properly reproduced on my external monitor (Dell 2407wfp). This is system-specific because I can connect my Dell Inspiron 1420 to the external monitor just fine.
Problem is, when I follow the installation steps for graphics driver version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C, I get an "installation failed" error message. Then, I begin getting messages saying things like "Could not load file or assembly mom. implementation version=2.0.2720.25313, culture=neutral, publickeystoken = 90ba9c70f846762e or one
of its dependencies. The system cannot find the specified files." [note: version and publickeystoken values not necessarily accurate, I can't reproduce my specific values without going through another failed attempt at ATI driver update because I did a system restore).
Any thoughts? Thanks so much!!

any way to fix this ?
the last time i fixed this problem is by doing the full restore by the vista machine
about the external monitor you must choose some other option to enabled the extternal monitor (i think) -
Check your Bios settings. The switchable graphics driver will only install properly if Bios is set to switchable graphics with OS autodetect turned on.
Also try uninstalling the old driver first as described in the info for the new drive. If it still doesnt install you can reinstall the driver in the factory preload from the C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\VIDEO directory. -
Thanks so much! Would you mind telling me how to check the BIOS settings and make sure that it's set to switchable graphics with OS autodetect turned on? I appreciate it!!

To get into the BIOS settings, jam on the F1 key a few times when you see the Thinkpad splashscreen after pushing the power button.
-
When you are updating, make sure you have your switchable graphics set to ATI graphics. Otherwise, the update could encounter errors.
-
In Bios it MUST be set to switchable graphics NOT to discrete graphics to work properly.
In power manager, switchable graphics menu, I doubt it matters what the setting is when you install a new driver, I think it would work whether you have chosen high performance or energy saving mode for switchable graphics.
