I just noticed someone mentioning the updated TAbook with SG on the T410s. So I clicked on the most expensive option of the three for the T410s and behold, there it is! Note, this is not lenovo canda, this is at lenovo.com & lenovo.com/spp

    NVidia NVS Switchable Graphics 512MB, Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB) [add $125.00]
Selecting this option may delay your shipment 3-4 weeks.

I don't see it on lenovo.com, and I don't have access to spp. But I do see it on the lenovo.com/familyandfriends page. How odd...
Also, I feel strangely ripped of being forced to pay an extra $90 on top of the $210 for the 128GB SSD (that's the only difference between basic and elite, as far as I can tell), not to mention prefering the Intel one to the Samsung. *sigh*.

Wonder why the T410 isn't yet.

You're bummed out because they sent you an Intel SSD instead of Samsung??? Okay.... the Intel one is supposed to be faster, and it supports TRIM. I don't know why anybody would be sad about that.

Edit: I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I had to re-read that. NVM. :)

You're lucky you got Samsung and not Toshiba. Besides only if the sizes are 80 or 160GB will you get Intel...

talin figured my post out properly. Let me rephrase.

I hate the idea of purchasing the enhanced or elite models, at least for the T410s. When you compare the specs, the only difference is the drive (and possibly the wireless card for the enanced). Yet if you were to make the same upgrades to the basic model, the basic one would come out as cheaper. We're talking about a difference of $90 bucks or so, to get that extra "enhanced" or "elite" moniker.

And that doesn't even take into account that I prefer the Intel drive, over whichever the 128 is (Samsung or Toshiba, I don't care). So, to get the switchable graphics, not only would I have to pay an extra $90 for the name, I'm also paying an additional $100 for an overpriced OEM upgrade that I hadn't actually wanted - and there's no way to downgrade to the Intel. I might have been OK splugring the extra $90 (on top of the $125) for the graphics, but not with that additional $100 for a drive without TRIM.

Hence my "Also, I feel strangely ripped of being forced to pay an extra $90 on top of the [ssd upgrade I don't want]."

    Clearer, now?

Honestly, there isn't much difference between the two, overall. Samsung drives do have TRIM now, though I'm not sure if Lenovo uses them. If it really bothers you, you can always sell it and buy an Intel. I think it's a very good price for the upgrade.

You can flip that Samsung in the marketplace or on FleaBay to defray the costs of an Intel. Or a SandForce controller based SSD. Or one of those Marvell ones. The Samsungs are great because of their absurdly low power consumption

I think that's really odd the Intel was only available on the basic model.
