Ive tried clean installing my laptop 4 times now and it has failed everytime. Due to the fact that I cant get my laptop to utilize the graphics card switching ability. I own a T500 and it runs Vista home basic. I install the drive and it seems like its going to work, but then when I try to switch to high performance it tells me to "turn of all 3d hardware and external displays before switching". Also when I clean installed it I would have really wierd high temp readings and he laptop would read the temp of my ATI card when its not activated, but shows it as active. Right now my laptop has higher temps then normal and its on Factory OS Intel graphics. Which is not normal from the last three times I reinstalled back to factory settings. Can anyone help me with a succesful clean install or now how to fix this problem? and also tell me why my temp readings are so high?

Note: I have read Stallens clean install, OREv, Akri, please do not refer me to those clean install stikies. I have read all of them so many times already.

There is a clean install thread for Vista in this forum that I followed with my T500 that is working well for me. Did you try it that way?

by Janko, read that and failed.

read stallens, Orevs, and Akri. I personally asked Akri questions and he told me to post a discussion about this.

If I ever do figure it out I will inform Janko or Akri to include this info into their threads.right now we gotta figure out whats the problem

Is SP1 installed? Switchable graphics need that or it comes up with the error you have... (I went through the same thing with my T400)
