    Hey guys

My T61p has a recovery partition.
I can recover my system easily through this partition.
However if I use this partition it will install many useless application like intervideo, multimedia apps, PC doctor and so on.
So is there any way to recover Windows only through recovery partion?
I really hate useless apps which make my laptop slow.

    thanks for your attentions.

probably not since recovery partitions tend to embed those "useless apps" into the OS involved. but then again, those helpful drivers are included as well, so you could see that as a good thing.

    Hi
you actually can do a (semi-)clean installation:
    - back up your data to an external device (I mean it really!)
    - install: ThinkVantage "Base Software Administrator"
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVAN-ADMIN#TBSA
    - run it --> new manifest file
    - in the "required" tab move the programs that you don't want to optional (right click)
    - in the "optional" tab turn off the software items hat you don't want to have installed automatically by turning the "V" symbol (right to the symbol/program name) from blue to grey (for each item)
    - when you are done, save the file (this is your personal manifest file) with an other name to "z:/Recovery" folder
[MAGIC: when the "save as" windows pops up the hidden partition in mounted and you can browse it with the explorer if you want, nothing special there]
    - restat and press the ThinkVantage button
    - do a complete factory restore and when asked choose the manifest file you have made
    - once installed update Windows and ThinkVantage software
    - done

I've used it with win XP but should work with Vista as well.
For additional information read the help of ThinkVantage Base Software Administrator.

    Enjoy

Anyhow now I found best solution!
Mr Ico's suggestion is what I am looking for exactly.
I really love this forum. Many informations, users and kindess!
