    Hi

    I am looking for a t530 or w530 with the 35w tdp 3612qm processor.

But the processor is not listed as an option on the lenovo site.

Does anyone know if lenovo plans to offer t or w series with 3612qm.?

(i looked at edge 530 with the 3612qm processor but miss the build quality of t/w series. But I love having a quad core with 90w power brick )

No, Lenovo will most likely not include this option for their T-Series. The T530 and W530 have got no issues at all cooling the 45W Quad Cores. They might add the 35W i7-3612QM later during the Year though, but I'm not too sure about that.

If you are willing to sacrifice your Warranty you can order the i7 from Ebay etc. and build it in yourself. Look up the HMM to find out how to do so.

    Thanks for your reply

Replacing the CPU is a tempting idea but I can't afford to lose the guarantee.

As an alternative I am thinking about buying a t530 with 3720qm and using it with 90w power brick when I am traveling.

In the forums I read that this works with t520. I hope it will work with t530 as well.

The 135w brick is a deal breaker since I mostly travel with just hand luggage.

    About the voided warranty,

In the event that you needed to get something repaired on the laptop, couldn't you just stick the processor that you took out back in? Or are there seals that you have to break to get to the processor?

They use soft screws and crappy clips to hold the laptop together, it is fairly obvious that you took the bezel and some other stuff off in order to replace the CPU.

There are no seals on any ThinkPad. It is possible to do so and cover up all tracks. I know enough people that built an IPS Panel into their X220 hereby voiding the warranty and simply put back the original TN when sending it for repairs. No one will ever notice.
