I just received my t-400 and orginally had problems with setting it up (it gotstuck on windows setup and I was told to turn it off lol) . Anywayz now I have fixed all my problems and I can see that the notebook is running slower than its potential due to the fact that there are 114processos running using 2.1gb of ram in idle.

I dont know what any of the processos are and I do not know which one to remove.

Also how do I change the resolution on my external monitor.

    Thanks

First, goto the control panel and remove pre-loaded applications that you do not want. Before removing Thinkvantage apps run them and see if you need them first. In my opinion the most useful apps are power manager, active protection, fringerprint software and system update. Be sure to explore yourself to see if you need the others. Uninstall the trial software.

Next, click start -> run -> type (without quotations) "msconfig" -> start up tab

On that window uncheck any software that you don't need starting up. If you are unsure what it is just leave it alone, but if you look at the command tab it is easy to figure what everything is.

I am using dual monitors right now, is it normal for the computer to freeze up while doing this?

No, no it is not. Do you have switchable graphics in your Thinkpad or regular integrated? If you have switchable try right clicking on your battery meter and switch it to high performance and see if that helps with dual monitors.
