I like to use my laptop to take notes in class/listen to music at the library while doing homework. Recently, its developed this issue where on battery power, the sound will skip. It'll play just fine, then hang on a note for a brief moment, then play, hang, etc, etc...
I have no idea why its doing this, any ideas?

It may be the speedstep technology of the processor. I know that to save power, the processor automatically slows down but it is supposed to speed up again when there is a demand for it (IE: using a processor-intensive program like gaming). Maybe it is not speeding up for music? I apologize as I am not that savvy with the workings of the processor, but just an idea to build on.

It's also possible that your APS settings are too sensitive. Is it skipping when you're physically adjusting your laptop or when it's just sitting there on a table?

Nope. It's just sitting here still. And the stuttering is regular. I've also noticed that at the same time the music stutters, my mouse will stop for a moment. Its almost like my computer is freezing for a instant.

Try setting it to Max performance mode testwise. Maybe the processor is constantly under- and upclocking itself.

I have the exact same problem. I've tried running it on "High Performance" on battery. It stutters. I've tried to roll back the graphics driver, that was indicated as a possible solution somewhere. It stutters. It stutters on battery. Period.

Are you guys running Vista? If so make sure you have SP1 installed. Just an idea I am throwing out there. I had shuttering issues all the time, on battery or AC, and SP1 helps solve the problem.

I run Windows Vista Enterprise SP1. The sound still stutters on battery no matter what I do... But thanks for the tip!
