I just found this forum while researching IBM notebooks, I've been looking on E-bay for nice used ones but it's kind of overwheming all the choices out there, I've narrowed it down to a T series I think due to the good reviews I have read about them, I'll only need it when I take trips to store pictures from my digital camera (Canon G5)and for getting online while in hotels so I need it to have 802.11 wireless, what works better built-in or a pc card? I would also like it to play DVD's and have a CD/RW. [?]I would like to keep the cost under $800. I could also use it for a backup if my Dell 8200 ever dies. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for all the help, I at least thought someone would say something, anyway I just bought a nice IBM refurbished T23 2000 Pro COA with built-in wireless, 30 gig, DVD-rom and 384mb ram for $629,it should do all I need it to I think.

Hi Dave, sorry I did'nt see your post sooner. Anyhow I think you got a a pretty good price for a used thinkpad and it should serve you well. I hope you return in the future if you have anymore questions or need help.

I used the T23 for a year while working at American Express...it was their standard issue machine for workers. I liked it. And for $689, you can't complain!

apologies for not catching this post sooner myself.
