Hi, I wonder if anyone could help.
I have had a T21 for 3 years now. Absolutely fantastic purchase. Very solid workhorse etc. Love it basically. Specs are PIII 800mhz, 30GB, 256MB, xircom PCMCIA firewire card. I am looking to start editing DV and I am wondering whether this machine is suitable / possible. If I buy the docking station with its 1/2 length PCI slot - could I add an video capture card to that. Would it work with my AGP graphics card? or could I upgrade my graphics card with a super doopa capture card and bypass the internal AGP card. Further, what is the best storage medium to use here - a lacey drive or similar - I also saw a fast ethernet storage solution on the thinkpad website (would like at least 100GB). In terms of video I/O what would be best. In terms of display - I would ideally like a two monitor solution or could I just use the monitor out to link to a large (new LCD panel)and would that work. In terms of output, I understand there is a new fast CD-RW / DVD-R which does everything in all formats fast, via the ultrabay port.
Is this pie in the sky (waste of money), am I just too attached to my T21, or should i just resign myself to fork out for a faster newer, dedicated desktop solution.
I am aware this may not be the right forum to answer all these questions - but I hope it gives users an indication of how highly I rate these machines. I would also appreciate any advice on other forums which might also be able to help. Thanks in advance.
