    Hi,

i'm currently using an IBM T40 Thinkpad with 512 MB RAM (2 piece of RAM) The RAM in used is 256MB DDR SDRAM PC2100.

I'm thinking of uggrading it to 1G (either 1 piece or 2 pieces of 512) with PC2700 capabilities. Will this effect my PC performance or cause any issues?

T40s don't support dual channel memory so having different sizes won't matter. I personally would get the 1GB stick. If you upgrade again in the future, you won't have to throw out a 512MB stick. Good Luck.

Seconded on the 1GB stick - you can keep one of your 256MB sticks in there, and then have 1.25GB :D
